Sonja Thompson
Sonja Thompson, Senior Manager of Field Market Development for the Pelvic Health division at Medtronic. Sonja joined the Cardiovascular division of Medtronic 7 years ago, driving patient education strategies while working closely with hospitals and clinics around the globe to drive access to therapies, fulfilling the Medtronic mission: to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. In recent years, Sonja has worked on a global scale, traveling outside of the US to develop care pathways at clinics in underserved communities. The goal is simple and always the same: educate people on their condition and make it easier to get access to the care they need. Now, Sonja is leading this initiative in Medtronic’s Pelvic Health business which treats patients with overactive bladder and fecal incontinence, another very underserved patient population. Sonja serves on the Cardiovascular Health Equity committee at Medtronic, is a leader with the African Descent Employee Network, and sits on several nonprofit boards to help give back in Atlanta communities. Sonja is a graduate of the University of Toledo with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. While she resides in metro Atlanta, she’s not often there. Instead, you can find Sonja visiting her son who’s finishing college at Arizona State University, on an adventure with her daughter and grandson, or traveling to a football stadium somewhere near you.
